The Benefits of an Electric Car that You May Not Have Considered
|When you hear the word “electric car” what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
After all, electric cars have been in the news so much lately as companies like Tesla continue to release new models and as more governments begin to offer incentives for those who purchase electric vehicles.
But if you’re anything like me, then chances are that you think of a car that gets worse gas mileage than your current car, has limited range capabilities, is far more expensive than a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle, and lacks many of the same luxuries you’re probably used to.
However, after taking a closer look at the benefits of an electric car, I was surprised by everything they have to offer.
So whether you’re considering making the switch from gas or diesel yourself, or simply want to know what it’s all about before buying one, here’s a list of things you might not have considered about electric cars.
1) Electric cars have lots of torque from a standstill, so you can essentially drive off in any direction at a moment’s notice.
2) In some areas, access to carpool/HOV lanes is much easier when driving an electric car. Some states even offer rebates for those who purchase hybrid or electric vehicles!
3) Many people think that the only way to charge your car is with a simple extension cord. However, there are hundreds of options on the market which allow you to charge without having to mess with an outlet. That means you can easily plug your vehicle into any standard outdoor outlet (like the ones at your local gas station), set up solar panels, buy/install a charging station, or even set up a charging station for free at your local mall (for example).
4) Electric cars are typically more efficient than gas-powered cars. That means you can save money on both fuel and electricity bills while also cutting down on emissions!
5) Electric cars don’t require regular oil changes like gas engines do. You’ll still need to change the oil every few months, but that’s about it.
6) There’s no extra maintenance required by an electric car. Most of the components are already sealed inside so there’s less chance of something going wrong with your vehicle over time. This is part of the reason why electric cars last so long – most systems simply don’t have moving parts that degrade or wear down.
7) You can choose any car you want to convert. While the majority of electric cars on the market today are convertibles and hatchbacks, all it takes is a few modifications for any gasoline-power vehicle to be transform into an electric version!
8) Electric vehicles perform just as well in colder or hotter climates than gas engines. Especially in countries that experience extreme weather conditions like Canada and Alaska.
9) Not only will an electric engine typically last much longer than a gas engine. But they’re also easier to drive because they don’t require gears or shifting. Which means there’s no need to change speeds when traveling uphill, etc. This makes driving an electric car much smoother and more relaxing if you often find yourself stuck in traffic on your daily commute.
10) Electric cars are much quieter than gas cars – even more so than hybrids. With the electric engine making little to no noise, you may forget that you’re driving altogether!
These are just a few of the benefits an electric car has to offer. But there are plenty more out there! With new models coming out every year. It’s only a matter of time before gasoline-powered manufacturers figure out how. To make their engines last at least as long and cost effective as electric engines do. However, that means that they can’t afford to ignore these points for too long or else. People will surely begin buying the environmentally friendly alternative over their current models! If you’re still not sure about whether or not an electric car is for you. Try doing some research of your own and see if one makes sense!
