The Family of the Colorado Shooting Suspect Says That He Was Paranoid

Alissa, the suspect from the Denver suburb of Arvada-Colorado, was sent to the country jail on Tuesday after being charged with murder. Before sending him to prison, he was also treated at a hospital. In addition, His first court appearance is due on Thursday.

The 21-year old male suspect was arrest due to a shooting rampage inside a normal grocery store. His family claimed that the suspect was paranoid and also anti-social. He also purchased an assault rifle 6 days before killing 10 people.

The suspect, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, started to attack people on Monday around 2.30 p.m. local time. The location was King Scoopers, which is more than 25 miles northwest of Denver. He killed 10 people, including Officer Eric Talley, who was the first cop to reach the grocery store.

Later the fatalities have been acknowledging as Teri Leiker, 51; Eric Talley, 51; Rikki Olds, 25; Suzanne Fountain, 59; Lynn Murray, 62; Denny Strong, 20; Tralona Bartkowiak, 49; Kevin Mahoney,61; Jody Waters, 65; Neven Stanisic, 23.

This incident happened just after a few days of another incident where 8 people were killed by a gunman at 3 different spas. According to abc57, USA TODAY, The Associated Press, and Northeastern University made a database claiming this is the 7th mass assault or killing in 7 days in the United States

The Suspect Purchased an Assault Rifle 6 Days before Shooting

After Alissa surrendered to the police, authorities wrote in an arrest affidavit that he was found with two firearms and a green tactical vest. In addition, The firearms were a semi-automatic handgun and an AR-15 assault rifle. 

The incident happened 10 days after a judge banned using assault rifles. However, the National Rifle Association challenged the ban by filing a lawsuit. Also, The judge countered the lawsuit with a Colorado law that halts cities from making their own private rules about guns.

Suspect Started Violence outside the Store

The cops described a violent scene when they arrived at the grocery store, with bullet shots flying around and officer Talley lying dead on the ground. 

Similarly, As per various witnesses, Alissa started rampaging outside the store. One witness told police that Alissa had opened fire at someone sitting in vehicle. While another witness claimed that Alissa started firing bullets from inside of a vehicle.

The employees of grocery stores stated that Alissa started firing at an older man in the parking space. The suspect then walked to another man, killing him from point-blank range.

The employees said that they hid from the suspect as soon as they noticed the killings. Police say that the suspect then continued his way towards the store, opening fire at the people inside. Then someone called the police and they came immediately. 

After some chaotic situation, the police finally arrested Alissa. After that, The arrest warrant states that Alissa walked back towards the police. Before that, police shot him in the leg and removed all of his clothes except a pair of shorts. Both he and his clothes and guns were covered in blood. 

Suspect Was Previously Arrested after a Fight over Bullying

Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa previously faced charges after he involved in a fight with his classmate when the classmate racially abused and bullied him.

The Facebook page of the suspect was accessed by The Daily Beast and The New York Times before it was deleted. Police found one of his posts where he claimed that he was born in Syria. Police also found some writing where he talked about Islam, struggles, and also prayer with Islamophobia.

After that Federals officers haven’t commented anything regarding his shooting. Whether this is an act of domestic terrorism or not, the investigation is still ongoing to determine the possible motive.
